So, Pete and I have decided to DO something about our lifestyle! There will no longer be alcohol in our home at ANY time, Pete is cutting down on his smoking, we are going to START to eat healthier, and we are going to start exercising every day. We are going to start off slowly, as to not freak ourselves out and get discouraged. We're doing "baby steps". We're both tired of feeling like crap. We would LOVE for you to pray for us as we start this journey together :) We want to be accountable to you, our friends and family. Our biggest struggle at this time, is snacking while at our computers. Pete and I each have our own computers and each of us snack ALL the time while "computing." The second biggest struggle, is Pete's smoking. There is a routine, and unless you've been a smoker, you don't realize how difficult giving smoking up is. There's the *first smoke of the day, *after bathroom smoke, *after breakfast/lunch/ dinner smoke, *after "nookie" smoke, and all the ***"just because smokes" in between.
*** Theses are smokes for reasons like, I've annoyed Pete, or he's frustrated with something, he's excited about something, he's talking on the phone etc.
The smoking and drinking pretty much go hand in hand. Pete is currently on his LAST bottle of alcohol, which will be gone by the end of today. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to paint a bad picture of my husband. He is an amazing, wonderful man, but like all of us, he has his cravings and addictions. My BIG struggle is being home all day, and not being tempted to snack. That's a tough one, but I am going to do my best to snack on fruits and veggies when I feel tempted. We have a water cooler, and one trick I have learned, is to drink a glass of water if you THINK you are hungry. If you are STILL hungry AFTER the glass of water, then it's true stomach hunger and not just head hunger. I will try to keep you updated, as to how things are going with our new lifestyle. Thanks again for all of your love, support, and prayers :)

oh that damn head hunger gets me all the time too ! you can do it !!
It's good that you're taking small steps. And also, try not to beat yourselves up if you slip.
Go for it! Quitting smoking is THE hardest thing to do but wow, what an accomplishment when you can look back and say 'you did it', it's been more than 8 years for me and I never thought I could do it. If I can, so can Pete!
Don't be discouraged when you take a step backwards on the whole eating healthy/smoking thing. It's HARD but just keep going and working at it and like anything you put your mind to, you can do it! Don't beat yourself up and give up, just pick up where you left off and try again. Try new habits too, especially when it's nice and sunny. Go for a nice long walk together, good for talking and good for you!
Way to go guys!
Great advice Jones! I look forward to hearing the results :)
I am so proud of you both! What a big step guys. I will be right there next your (literally) supporting everything you do. Can't waite to start our walks again. Thanks for the laughs tonight, I was feeling kinda discouraged, and yet again you made me see the humurous side of it! Love ya both,
Cindy
A step in the right direction!
Awesome that you are going to work on this together. It is much easier (and I use that term lightly!) to have a partner. Make sure you say NO to one another.
One thing we have done is walk in the evenings because that was our worst snack time and it got us out of the house and away from food.
